Shaft weight is noted in the specs to help match the heads to the appropriate shaft. Lighter heads need lighter shafts so the golf club will always feel balanced. Generally, choosing a specific shaft weight outside the standard range is only important when you are using large wood heads, i.e. 300cc or 250cc, or when using longer or shorter than standard length shafts.
